The Wait

You know when you're sitting in an airport waiting for a bus you can witness some interesting things. Like for example, how security measures have changed, especially since 9/11. (I've got another story about 9/11 for some other time.)
So! I'm waiting for my bus and I noticed a couple girls getting ready to take a plane and they had to go through a lot just to get on that plane. Their bags were checked very thoroughly, coats had to be removed and even their shoes. There was a police officer who was watching the passengers very closely as if he was waiting for something to happen. He was looking at me suspiciously as well. Imagine that huh!
It was all pretty intense and it makes people wonder if this kind of "cautionary procedure" is necessary or not! I understand that some security precautions are necessary but it seems like maybe people are getting the wrong idea. Have these regulations gone to far? Are we losing sight of what's really happening here? Sometimes I don't even know. All I know is that we're in big trouble as a society. And we've got to get our shit together fast.
The thing is that even though we all live in a crazy world we've still got a lot of goodness in it. It's kind of like a bag of chips and they're the kick as brand and there are always a few burnt, green, moldy, gross looking chips in the bag. So! What do you do? Get rid of those nasty chips and keep the good ones. It doesn't make sense to throw away the whole bag just because a few yucky chips decided to hang out even if they were not invited.
Sounds familiar doesn't it? Like the kids who are trouble makers who show up to a school dance drunk and decided to puke on the school mascot and burn down the bathroom. Then try to steal the principals car and think it was cool to piss in it. Well ok! If the principal was an asshole I can sort of see that happening, but still!
So you got 200 kids at the dance and only 7 are the problem and what usually happens? The so called "powers that be" decided to punish everyone even if the rest of the dance had nothing to do with it. Typical authority red tape.
The way I feel is don't punish those who don't deserve it because it's not teaching these kids anything. Not all kids are bad and just because there's a kid jumping on the cafeteria table and screaming wildly doesn't mean that he is a trouble maker or a drug addict.
Just because someone looks different and acts different doesn't mean that they are bad or wrong. A lot of people look suspicious but that doesn't mean that they are.
So I think the so called "powers that be" should really consider that next time before they make more accusations, rules and ridiculous decisions that can affect the whole world.
... They probably won't.
