The Joy of Creating

If there is one thing on this earth that I simply cannot get enough of it is the feeling of satisfaction that comes with creating art. Since 2004 I have had the opportunity to work on countless projects with Jason and each and every new project brings challenges and ultimately the feeling of success. There is something truly special about creating a work of art that makes people stop and take notice.

It doesn’t really matter what the project is, in fact with the work I do with Jason the feeling of satisfaction is two fold. First of all there is the music aspect which I do all the engineering on, then there is the artwork that goes with the finished album.

As a matter of fact before I started working with Jason the majority of the projects I was doing had little to do with creating art. I spent most of my time restoring photographs as a home business. I didn’t even own a digital camera at the time and I hadn’t spent much time at all working with traditional cameras. At that particular point in time it was extremely costly to learn photography by trial and error simply because of the developing and printing costs.

As luck would have it I started selling vacuum cleaners door to door that year and I did really well. At one point the company ran a promotion in which they were giving away prizes to top sellers. One of those prizes happened to be a Sony Digital camera, model DSC-P32. Crazy that I can even remember that eh?

Working with Jason on these music projects opened my eyes to an entirely different aspect of working with photographs on the computer. Acquiring the digital camera was really the last piece of the puzzle in regards to making digital art for the first time. Over the years I have taken literally thousands of photographs, some of which I think are really great. And even after all this time I still get a special feeling every time I pick up a camera. It’s a wonderful feeling to create something and share it with the world.
