Look, listen, think and feel

My music isn’t always accepted or understood. Especially where I live. I was born a different breed and that has a lot to do with people not willing to give my music a chance.

When people ask me what style music I do I tell them heavy eclectic. Most of the time the reaction is simply what? That usually means that I am doing something right. And that’s ok with me.

My father is the one who came up with the title and I feel it is the best description that I could give anyone. When you are doing something different it is important to have a hook. That way people have reason to either get interested in what you’re doing or not want any part of it and walk the other way.

Because of all the various influences I incorporate into my music heavy eclectic truly sums it up. Anyone discovering a new artist, film, tv show or anything for the first time there are four key steps that might be helpful.

Step 1, look. First you have to be able to see this happening especially if it’s staring right at you. There’s a lot going on so you really have to look at it. Simply glancing at something and then passing judgment is a really bad idea. You could inadvertently pass up something really amazing. Actually take the time to examine it before casually dismissing it.

Step 2, listen. You’ve got to hear what’s happening. There’s a lot going on in that area too.

Step 3, think. Really stop and think about what you’re hearing and seeing. You might learn a thing or two.

Step 4, feel. Once steps 1-3 have been taken step 4 is automatic. Sometimes you can feel what’s going on before you even think about it. That’s ok too as long as you’re aware and willing to accept it. With these four easy steps you’ll be able to enjoy what you see and hear. How does that old saying go? Appearances can be deceiving, so true… Josh and I realize that our art is not for everyone. I mean lets face it, you can’t please them all and we’re not about pleasing them all. However, we are about pleasing the die hard fans who appreciate what we do and who we are.

But most importantly the work that we create pleases ourselves. If you can’t be content with who you are and what you do then you need to stop and figure it out immediately.
